Daniel Fried

I never heard of this man — David Fried — before tonight and that is really a tribute to what he has done, how he has done it and who he did it for – for you and me and our country.

Tonight I did, I heard of him and about him.

I am not quite sure how this Blog stuff works but if it does as I think it will, I am now about to paste in a link to the Time article about his retirement and what he said on retiring just now after 40 years working for us at the United States Department of State.

Rex Tillerson, and you do have to wonder where his loyalties rest– you really do,  is hollowing out the State Department. I’ve read that more than 3 dozen, even 4 dozen senior-most foreign service officers, career people like Mr. Fried, who have always had the nation’s back, have been forced out or concluded it was time and best to go. People like Mr. Fried who have served, without partisan alliance, every president since R. Nixon, G. Ford, J. Carter, R.Reagan G. H.W. Bush, B. Clinton, G.W. Bush and B. Obama, are leaving or are being forced out at State.

Here is what Mr. Fried said. It’s important, much more important than anything any of us has to say. No one can or could improve on it.

Ok, so just pasted it in and guess and trust it will work. Someone let me know if it did. If it comes with a lot of extraneous ads and commentary, I apologize but we all know the Internet — a publicly funded government roadway by the way.
